PARTICIPATION IN VOLUNTARY ACTIVITY IN CAMPO ALEGRE - TOCANTINS

University of Rio de Janeiro participated in the Leadership Partnership Project with students from Brasilia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo. The village of Campo Alegre (city of Paranã - TO) is very poor, and visits were made to families, contest for children (about one hundred), medical (150 patients) and dental (90 procedures). According to Ricardo Miyashita, who participated in the project, it is a unique experience of helping the needy, and so every university should do something similar at least once in their lifetime. As a synthesis of these days, commented that "when we notice that there are people living in extreme poverty, but at the same time very happy and extremely grateful for the little help we provide, we give more value to have and receive in this life."
